Genting road trip with a 14mo — realistic or am I dreaming?

🌱 New Parent · 1 month ago · 👁 256
Thinking of driving up to Genting next month, baby will be 14 months. Worried about (1) winding roads + motion sickness and (2) the cold up top — he runs warm and I never see him in a jacket here. Anyone done the climb with a toddler this age? How did the car ride go on those bends?

Did it last year, ours was about the same age. The bends near the top are the real test — go slow, crack a window for air flow, and time it for his nap if you can. We had ZERO drama because he slept through the worst stretch.

Bring a proper fleece + a beanie, it genuinely gets chilly up there especially in the evening/morning. My toddler's hands went cold fast. Layers > one thick jacket so you can adjust.

Nap-timing the drive is smart, noted. Did your little one's ears bother him on the way up? It's a fair bit of altitude change.

Honestly no ear drama for us — a sippy cup of water to keep him swallowing on the climb seemed to do the trick. The cable car at the end was the highlight, he was mesmerised 😄

Pack a fixed schedule of snacks for the car — bored toddler on winding roads is a recipe for meltdown. And wet wipes everywhere lah. Have fun!
